We have built over 4,000 modular structures for use in Alberta, BC, SK, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. These structures are in use at over 900 locations serving the education, accommodation, telecommunication, quick service restaurant and oil & gas sectors. We are currently expanding into the Residential, Hotel and Agricultural Grow industries.Role DescriptionAs a member of the Procurement team, the Buyer will be responsible for planning, coordinating and buying goods and services to support manufacturing and construction projects. This role reports to the Director, Supply Chain. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select the best suppliers, analyze trends, follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.Location:This role is office based at our 135,000 square feet manufacturing facility 20 minutes North of Calgary in Crossfield, Alberta, strategically located near a High Load Corridor which allows us to transport loads up to 9 meters high to many parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, and the United States. Our employees live in Calgary, Airdrie and surrounding communities.ResponsibilitiesWork with buyers and procurement team to source the best quality productsNegotiate contracts with vendors; establish new and ongoing relationships with suppliersPlan and implement a logistical strategy to meet targetsAssisting with logistics, inventory maintenance, shipping, material handling and returns of productsContribute to purchasing strategy, policy and procedures, and make draft recommendations to the Director.Purchase with the understanding of market trends with respect to commodities and consumables ensuring that our costing is competitive for the customers that we serveIdentifying cost reduction opportunities and conducting market validations of current arrangements by obtaining competitive quotes with negotiationMaintain detailed recordsEnsure sound purchasing policies, procedures and strategies are followed and consistent with those employed within the companyImproving the supply chain performance and seek out any innovations that could be made to improve the process, costs and quality deliverablesDevelop and maintain purchasing schedules, ensuring material is ordered and received in coordination with the overall project schedulesBuild strong relationships internally and externallyManage and minimize risks that may affect or disrupt the supply chainFoster continuous improvement/KAIZEN initiatives internally and with key vendors to reduce costOptimize working capital levels by ensuring the right inventory at the right time at the right priceQualifications & Experience5+ years’ experience in procurement of Construction materialsQualification in supply chain management or equivalentStrong negotiating skillsExceptional communication, interpersonal, organization skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment with high levels of integrity, tact, and maturityProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel)Understanding of General Commercial Construction or General ContractingUnderstanding of Modular Construction would be an assetExperience with buying lumber would be an assetCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceComprehensive health and benefits planRRSP contribution matching programCOLLABORATIONWe communicate in a kind, inclusive, and empathetic manner to our customers and each other while working for a common purpose.ACCOUNTABILITYWe are honest, ethical, and transparent.
