Title: Director of Operations (DO)

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Position Summary

The Director of Operations (DO) at Creative Beginnings Early Learning & Care (CBELAC) is a compassionate and visionary leader dedicated to fostering a nurturing and high-quality early learning environment. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing daily operations across all locations, ensuring seamless program execution, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality enhancement.

With a deep commitment to children, families, and educators, the DO leads with empathy, integrity, and a focus on building strong, supportive relationships. Working closely with the CEO, the DO plays a pivotal role in executing CBELAC’s mission by integrating operational strategies with pedagogical excellence, staff development, and meaningful community engagement. Through thoughtful leadership and a people-centered approach, the DO empowers teams, nurtures a culture of collaboration, and ensures that every child’s experience is enriched with care and purpose.

  • Operational Leadership: Ensures efficient systems, processes, and workflows are in place to support the Leadership Team in achieving CBELAC’s mission and operational goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensures all CBELAC locations meet licensing, safety, and accreditation requirements.
  • Process Optimization & Efficiency: Identifies and implements improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Staff Development & Performance Management: Builds a strong, engaged workforce through mentorship, coaching, and leadership development.
  • Human Resources Management: Leads talent acquisition, employee relations, and professional growth initiatives.
  • Financial & Facility Oversight: Ensures the effective allocation of resources and well-maintained, high-quality learning environments.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Bridges internal and external stakeholders to foster alignment with CBELAC’s values and strategic goals.
  • Family & Community Engagement: Strengthens relationships with families and community partners, enhancing CBELAC’s impact and presence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Compliance:

  • Oversee daily operations across all CBELAC locations, ensuring efficiency, program integrity, and high-quality early learning environments.
  • Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), health and safety standards, and all regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, refine, and implement policies and procedures that drive operational excellence and service consistency.
  • Partner with Pedagogical Lead and program teams to integrate best practices in early learning.

2. Human Resource & Staff Management:

  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, and professional development to build a high performing, engaged, and supported workforce.
  • Implement training programs that align with CBELAC’s pedagogical approach and quality standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Support staff well-being and retention through effective communication, feedback, and career development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, workplace safety regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Manage employee relations, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.

3. Financial & Facility Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the CEO and finance team to develop and manage operational budgets.
  • Optimize resource allocation to ensure sustainable growth and program enhancements.
  • Work with vendors and third-party service providers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality products and services.

4. Family & Community Engagement:

  • Ensure an exceptional experience for families through responsive, clear, and supportive communication.
  • Align operational strategies with CBELAC’s brand, values, and commitment to inclusivity and care.
  • Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, funders, and stakeholders to expand CBELAC’s impact.
  • Support marketing and recruitment efforts to maintain enrollment and program growth.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Early Childhood Education, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, CHRL) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of operational leadership experience in childcare, education, or non-profit settings.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood education regulations and compliance frameworks (e.g., CCEYA).
  • Experience in multi-site management, policy development, and staff leadership.
  • Proven ability to analyze and improve operational processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
