Brake Development Engineer

Job Description:The Brake Development Lab (BDL) is part of the Engineering Systems Development – Chassis / Body-in-White (ESD – CBIW) department.The selected candidate will be eager, hardworking and responsible for directing activities. Responsibilities include the operation of two brake-end dynos and one full size chassis dyno including associated test setup and reporting.A primary responsibility will be the supervision of unionized personnel and duties associated with such supervision (safety, environmental, conflict resolution, etc.)Other departmental activities will include taking and analyzing data using the Laser Vibrometer and Caliper Test Stand.Other departmental activities may be required depending on scheduling, for example vacation coverage for the Corrosion Teardown lab.The BDL is a 24/7 operation so afternoon, midnight, weekends/OT may be required.Requirements:Knowledge of vehicle suspension and braking systemsTeam Center and NX knowledge would be an assetKnowledge of Link ProLink software suite an assetPrevious experience using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) an assetCompetent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBAStrong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skillsExcellent written and oral skillsWork Experience Requirements:Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry.Must have supervision experience (will be supervising 1-2 workers).Must be legally authorized to work in Canada with ability to travel to USA.Ability to support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasions.Experience working in a unionized environment.A valid driver's license as well as a clean driving record is required.Education:Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering required from an accredited universityPreferred: Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical EngineeringAdditional Information / Must Have's:Test Lab experienceKnowledge of brake systemsExcellent communication skillsAt least 1 year of experience100% onsiteNo Driving a company vehicleAmount of travel, of so where: 5% to Auburn hills and suppliers.
