The Role

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. The Registered Nurse plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the CRNBC Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Campbell River Hospital provides a range of Emergency services. Depending on the assigned clinical area within the Site/Unit the Registered Nurse may be required to be competent in multiple clinical settings. This job description addresses various scenarios where nurses are required to work in one or more areas requiring advanced training and experience.

Qualifications

_Education, Training, and Experience_
Current, practicing membership with BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Two years recent related experience in a clinical setting where relevant RN nursing skills and theoretical knowledge have been applied.
General duty staff nurse positions also require Basic Life Support, Level C. Post-basic education for clinical areas, and up to one (1) year of recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Specialty unit nurse positions, such as Operating Room, Post Anesthetic Recovery, Obstetrics, Paediatrics, and Psychiatry, also require specialty certification for the unit. Up to two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Critical Care, Emergency and Intensive Care nurse positions also require Advanced Cardiac Life Support and specialty certification. Up to two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
