Location: Pacekids’ South (130 23 Sunpark Drive SE)Temporary Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, to commence as soon as possible until the end of June 2025Applicants must hold an Alberta Teaching Certificate and be in good standing with Alberta EducationNOTE: ECE Levels 1-3 would not meet this requirementThe successful candidate must possess at minimum a Bachelor of Education degree and a current Interim Professional Certificate or Permanent Professional Certificate issued by Alberta Education, or a Statement of Standing from their current/previous jurisdictionWhat We OfferPaid flexible sick and personal time for all staff, accrued at 5.38% of hours workedEmployer-paid health and paramedical benefits for full-time employeesPaid observance of 13 holidays3 weeks annual paid vacationSupport for professional development including in-house learning and developmentResponsibilitiesPlan, prepare, and implement the daily theme-based lesson plans for the classroom (including Circle Time, Craft Time, Story Time, and Play Centres)Support planning and coordination of monthly field trips and community outingsFollow the Alberta Learning Curriculum for the Kindergarten childrenDevelop and update Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals, and ensure that they are carried out appropriately and effectively by members of the classroom team (i.e. CTAs)Make referrals to appropriate therapists for classroom consultation and follow through with therapists’ recommendations and strategiesCollect data for the preparation of reports and IPP reviewsTrack daily attendance and provide daily updates to families via parent communication systemReport on children’s progress with educational goals and classroom participation in year-end reports as well as participate in parent-teacher interviews twice per yearConsult and connect with management, therapy teams, and classroom teams to review, brainstorm, and implement strategies and ideasAttend team theme-planning meetings and case conferencesAssist with self-help skills where needed, including toileting and diapering childrenFacilitate Grade 1 transition planning for Kindergarten children and their familiesEnsure that classroom practices meet the Accreditation, Alberta Education, and Health & Safety standardsProvide classroom leadership and coaching to ensure team cohesivenessSupervise classroom CTAs, including providing yearly evaluations, approving payroll, and engaging in disciplinary reviews if requiredProvide mentorship to Preschool Teachers and CTAsDevelop and facilitate staff training and education sessions on Professional Development daysWhat You BringValid Alberta Teaching Certificate from Alberta Education or those whose credentials have been recognized or are in the process of being recognized by a Canadian Provincial Department of EducationCompleted Bachelor of Education degreeDemonstrates a deep understanding of special education and works comfortably with early learners from ages 2 ½ to 6 yearsCurrent Alberta driver’s license and access to a personal vehicleProficiency in the English language, both written and verbalExcellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with students, families, and staffStrong communication, leadership, time management, and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively on a team, as well as an ability to take initiative and work independentlyTact, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality at all timesCurrent First Aid and CPR Level- CClear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record CheckPacekids Programs is a charitable organization that empowers children with diverse needs and their families through excellence in therapy, education, and play.
