Position Overview:

Our client is a well-established construction company who focus on industrial and heavy industrial construction but also have a strong fire protection branch to their company. We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Engineer.

This role involves leading the design and implementation of fire protection systems for large-scale industrial and commercial projects.

Further Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the design and analysis of fire protection systems, including fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems for industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Provide informal leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, ensuring high-quality project execution.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and develop fire protection strategies in compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, BCBC, IFC).
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to develop customized fire protection solutions.
  • Review and approve fire protection system designs, calculations, and specifications.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and inspections to ensure fire protection measures are correctly implemented.
  • Stay updated on fire protection regulations, codes, and best practices to ensure compliance and innovation in design.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • P.Eng designation in BC or eligibility for registration.
  • 5-10 years of experience in fire protection engineering, with a focus on industrial and commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fire protection codes and standards, including NFPA, IFC, and local building codes.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculations, fire modeling, and fire alarm system design.
  • Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
