About The Role – Red Seal Mechanic (Edmonton, Edson, Onoway, Hinton or surrounding areas)Orica is hiring a Mechanic located in the general Edmonton, BC area.This position will provide maintenance and repair support for a range of mobile and static explosive pumping equipment. Additionally, this position will complete regular fleet maintenance and inspections through the preventative maintenance program.What you will be doingTroubleshooting of all Orica explosive pumping and manufacturing equipmentAssist with vehicle audits and regulatory inspectionsComplete regular fleet maintenance and inspections through the preventative maintenance programEnsure regulatory compliance and mobile major hazard management as requiredFault finding and repair of prime mover explosives delivery unit (Majority of Western Star Chassis). Location and Work Schedule:Home Location can be in Edmonton, Edson, Onoway, Hinton or surrounding areasWork Schedule: Two options depending on home locationOption #1 working Monday through FridayOption #2 working 4 days on / 3 days offBoth options include occasional trip to Hammerstone which requires overnight staysWork ProvisionsTraining on equipment provided Safe training providedRepair Truck or Work Truck with tools and fuel card providedHousing and meals provided for overnight staysWhat you will bringExperience in electrical and hydraulic repair and failure diagnosis.Experience with Detroit Diesel, Mercedes, CAT power plants.Experience working with progressive cavity and gear pumps would be an asset.The ability to undertake confined space training for the purpose of tank Inspections would be an asset.They must be a self starter with a can-do attitude and the ability to focus on attention to detail.A strong safety background is a must.Motivated team player with strong organizational and communication skills.Must be willing to travel and be able to work outside in all conditions.Capable of working in a heavy equipment environment a must.Previous mine experience an assetComputer proficient in Microsoft programs Proficiency in SAP work order systems preferredYour qualificationsHigh School /Secondary School diploma or equivalentClass 1 drivers’ license is an asset, OR Class 3 drivers’ license with air mandatory with clean abstractInter Provincial Red Seal certificate required (Heavy Duty or Truck and Transport)CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Permit) is an assetHow you shape and influence othersDemonstrates courage, resilience and flexibilityStrong reputation for integrity, ethics, personal values and solid character Solid interpersonal & communication skillsSelf-aware and open to feedback Work effectively across teamsAble to work independently with only targeted supervisionProductive without compromising quality Highly reliable and motivated to excelAbout OricaAt Orica, it’s the power of our people that leads change and shapes our futures.
