In this role, you will lead our team of invoicing and receivables professionals. This dynamic role oversees the end-to-end invoicing and receivables cycle and drives continuous improvement and strategic initiatives within our growing department. The ideal candidate will possess a CPA or be near completion of a CPA designation.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Leads the development and execution of strategic objectivesCreates and executes industry-leading standards for timely, accurate and complete invoicingProduces and analyzes monthly financial forecasts for Engineering billable work recoveriesReviews/produces monthly financial accruals for billable recoveries not yet invoicedMonthly account reconciliation and review of various billing suspense accounts (Blackline)Accountable for the invoicing and collection activities and metrics of billable projects / non-freight revenue through direct interaction with various government and external agenciesAssists with questions that arise out of governmental project auditsOversees the billing to third parties annually for joint facility contracts and related collectionIdentifies process improvement opportunities, proposes and implements solutions, and gains consensus from key stakeholdersPrepares various internal management reports and assists in various research projects related to accounting issuesWorks cross-functionally and externally to resolve outstanding, unresolved non-freight invoicing and receivablesLeads a team of non-unionized and unionized staff, leveraging CPKC’s Consequence Leadership model to develop future leadersProvides timely and constructive coaching and feedback to staff; develops staff and provides challenging opportunities.Creates a culture of urgency and accountabilityLeads and executes on technology enhancements and changesProactively engages upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure streamlined end-to-end processesStrict adherence to SOX and Internal ControlsProtect CPKC's financial integrity and accuracyPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Post-secondary education in finance or business-related disciplineCPA designation or working toward one considered an assetMinimum 3 years of accounting experience and solid understanding of financialsAbility to understand and interpret Federal and State regulations and apply them to billable assetsAbility to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documentsAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to work with a sense of urgency and drill down to the root causeStrong Financial and Business acumenAdvanced MS ExcelWHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER:Flexible and competitive benefits packageCompetitive company pension planEmployer Funded Retirement PlanEmployee Share Purchase PlanPerformance Incentive ProgramAnnual Fitness SubsidyPart-time Studies ProgramADDITIONAL INFORMATION:As an employer with North American presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements.Background Investigation:The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:Criminal history checkReference checkManagement Conductor Program:Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
