If you dream of joining an organization that is small enough for you to be noticed, but big enough to provide you with a meaningful career, then we want to hear from youJob DescriptionThe House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations is currently looking to staff the Graphic Design and Prepress Officer position.As part of this team, you will be accountable for creative design for the House of Commons Administration and prepress support for Members of Parliament and their staff. You will ensure to meet client-specific requirements in areas of digital and print communications. The position is responsible for providing advice and guidance to clients on visual design elements for specific projects and initiatives, and for influencing new visual design solutions that link with the House of Commons directives relating to Members’ communications. The position is also responsible for supporting the accurate and overall printing preparation of householders, Members of Parliament targeted mailing, stationary items and a variety of other products using digital and conventional processes to obtain a quality product while applying the House of Commons Printing and Mailing Services guidelines. We recognize that each client is unique, and we value employees who can think outside the box to deliver customized and high-quality services.Training and development opportunitiesWork-life balance /35-hour workweek4 weeks’ vacation (minimum)QualificationsEducation:College diploma in Graphic Design, Printing, image arts or another related field OR an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.Experiences: Experience in the design of innovative visual solutions for various communication productions, not limited to print communications;Experience in providing advice on visual design solutions to clients;Experience in creating and editing complex documents and transforming them into imposed printable files;Experience in print production, pre-press workflows and software;Experience in prepress impositions for digital and offset presses;Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.Assets:Knowledge of Microsoft Publisher, accessibility design standards;Knowledge of proofreading and formatting standards;Attention to detail and effective communication skills;Knowledge of the principles and requirements of web content and accessibility guidelines;Possess planning and organizational skill to effectively deal with multiple demands, conflicting priorities and deadlines.Additional InformationWe are committed to creating an inclusive workplace by providing a barrier-free recruitment and selection process.
