Senior Director of Software Engineering

Our client in the financial services industry is looking for a Senior Director Software Engineering to join on a fulltime permanant basis. The ideal candidate will be technical owner of payments product managing a team of 5 - 10 developers.Location: Hybrid downtown TorontoResponsibilities:Lead and manage a team of 5-10 software developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the development team.Set clear goals and expectations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and project timelines.Oversee the design, development, and deployment of payment software solutions.Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing, and documentation.Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and specifications.Utilize your expertise in Java, Spring, and Angular to guide the development team in building robust, scalable, and secure applications.Oversee multiple development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.Manage resource allocation, project planning, and risk mitigation strategies.Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.Coordinate with QA teams to ensure comprehensive testing, debugging, and validation of software applications.Address and resolve technical issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks promptly.Requirements15+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Proficiency in Java, Spring, and Angular.Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservices architecture.Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage performance, and drive project success.Experience in managing complex software development projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.Experience in the payment software industry or financial technology sector.Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines and containerization.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
