Job Description Overview: The Government of Alberta requires an Intermediate IT Technical Business Analyst to support enterprise-level SharePoint, ECM, and IT project initiatives. The resource will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and cross-ministry partners to translate business needs into clear technical requirements, support project coordination, and develop documentation for complex IT solutions. Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for enterprise IT and content management environments. Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with diverse business stakeholders. Conduct workshops, interviews, and requirement-gathering sessions across ministries/departments. Analyze process maps, data flow diagrams, and business process descriptions to identify system interactions, dependencies, and record outputs. Technical & SharePoint Responsibilities Support the design, development, integration, and maintenance of Microsoft SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online (M365) . Work with complex SharePoint solutions involving managed metadata, workflows, forms, and UI customization. Develop integrated system and technical design specifications for enterprise content management solutions. Project Coordination Coordinate and guide technical teams during implementation phases. Support multiple IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with GoA technical standards and project delivery methodologies. Document project artefacts including BRDs, functional specifications, technical design documents, data mappings, and implementation plans. IT Solution & Service Management Support IT service management-related initiatives (incident, problem, change management). Work on IT application development/maintenance projects involving evolving requirements and shifting priorities. Must-Have Qualifications Education (Meet ONE of the following): University degree in business/management or related discipline + 5 years BA experience Two-year diploma + 6 years BA experience One-year certificate + 7 years BA experience 8 years BA experience (no education requirement) Required Experience 5+ years as a Business Analyst in enterprise IT and content management environments. 5+ years coordinating technical teams on large IT projects. 5+ years defining project scope and goals with business stakeholders. 5+ years gathering requirements from stakeholders across ministries/departments. 5+ years working on complex SharePoint projects (managed metadata, workflows, forms, UI customization). 5+ years experience with SharePoint 2016 & M365 SharePoint Online . 5+ years developing integrated system & technical design specifications for ECM environments. Nice-to-Have Experience 4 years analyzing complex process maps and data flow diagrams. 3–4 years designing, developing, and implementing complex IT solutions. 4 years developing project documentation across strategic/IT initiatives. 3 years IT service management (ITSM), ITSM tools, and application development projects. 4 years working on projects with shifting priorities and timelines.
