Position Job Title: Dean, School of Arts, Science, and Technology Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid) Reports To: Vice-President, Academic Primary Purpose The Dean of the School of Arts, Science, and Technology, a member of UCW’s senior administration, will be working in collaboration with the Vice-President, Academic, and the founding dean of the School of Management and Business with the goal of completing the reorganization of the departmental structure within the Academic Portfolio. The Dean will develop a compelling vision for the business school or department aligned with the broader mission and strategic objectives of the institution, and will lead the planning efforts to enhance the reputation, ranking, and impact of the business programs locally, nationally, and internationally.Specific Responsibilities and implement an aggressive faculty recruitment strategyin the inaugural biennial performance review of the continuing facultyas needed, with the operations of the UCW Centre for Advanced Studiescurriculum development, including initiating innovative undergraduate and graduate programs, and developing or evolving programs and collaborations as market forces changeand grow the promotion of global initiatives and partnershipspromote ongoing engagement opportunities for UCW alumniadvance Reconciliation, Inclusion, Access, and Sustainabilityreconciliation and decolonization and integrate Indigenous ways of knowing into curriculaUCW’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and access, including a commitment to fostering a respectful and supportive environment at all levelsPosition RequirementsCompetencies: to lead and oversee a broad range of activities including academic programs, accreditation, faculty hiring, faculty relations, planning, policy review and management, and external engagement, in an effective and collegial mannerto foster a strong research culture, encouraging local and global collaborations, and supporting the development of excellent research that generates knowledge and promotes positive societal and economic outcomesto promoting teaching quality and encouraging the continuing enhancement of academic programswillingness, and commitment to engage actively with the Arts, Science, and Technology community, locally, nationally, and internationallyto build and maintain connections with industry and the business communityEducation and Experience:earned doctorate in a relevant discipline, along with a record of teaching, research, and service sufficient for appointment as a professor at UCWsuccessful track record as a dean or department head, or in other leadership roles involving significant administrative experience, within a university or similarly complex organizationDiversity and Inclusivity StatementUniversity Canada West is strongly committed to equity, diversity and inclusivity within its community and especially welcomes applications from racialized persons / persons of colour, women, Indigenous / Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ persons and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.The University recognizes that applicants may have had obligations outside of work that have negatively impacted their record of achievements (e.g., parental, elder care and/or medical).
