Job Title: Intermediate Programmer/Software Developer (Level 2)Location: Ottawa, ONJob Type: Contract (240 days with potential extensions)Clearance: SECRETResponsibilities:Design and Development: Create detailed programs, flow charts, and diagrams for controlling laboratory equipment, processing data, and storing results.Coding: Translate flow charts into machine instructions and collaborate with technical personnel for program planning.Testing and Validation: Verify program accuracy with sample data and system acceptance tests; correct program errors as needed.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of software architectures, data formats, and operating procedures.Performance Evaluation: Assess the performance of ECM systems using the automated software control application.Collaboration: Work closely with DND/CAF staff to determine ECM loadset requirements and implement them on ECM equipment.Software Management: Establish and maintain software configuration management processes.Additional Tasks: Undertake other software developer-related tasks in support of DRDC ECM activities.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from a recognized Canadian institution (or equivalent). Experience:Minimum of 3 years in software design and implementation within the last 2 yearsMinimum of 3 years in planning, testing, and evaluating communication protocols using RF laboratory equipment within the last 2 years.Security Clearance: SECRET clearance is mandatory.Skills:Proficiency in software architecture, flow charts, and machine-level programming.Strong understanding of RF communication protocols and ECM systems.Travel Requirements:Occasional travel may be required within the National Capital Region and potentially internationally. Pre-approval for travel is mandatory.
