Not only will you develop your expertise through hands-on experiences, but you will also join a thriving network of Lactalis Students across Canada.We are invested in your long-term success and aim to equip you with skills and experiences that will fuel your futureAbout the opportunity:The Lab Technician Student will focus on performing laboratory tests for quality control and reporting results to the quality supervisor.The attributes we are looking for:Perform analytical and microbiological, chemistry, and sensorial testing and analysis of in-process and finished product samples according to approved standard operating procedures. Record and evaluate test data and notify the Quality Supervisor of any deviations from the prescribed product specifications. Conduct root cause analysis and determine the necessary corrective action.Conduct screening and monitoring tests on raw milk upon receipt where applicable.Perform packaging checks at start up to make sure all information are correct and communicate any deviation or issues to Production Supervisor/Manager where applicable. (New).Finished product sample collection according to the collection frequency as described in the procedurePerform plant's Environmental Monitoring and Water Quality programs (sampling, testing, recording and evaluating data) in compliance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and/or Ministry of the Environment operational requirements.Organize and conduct shelf-life evaluation of specified products.Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory and plant analytical equipment.Organize, test and communicate test results for various product trials that require chemical or microbiological testing.Monitor the release of finished product and ensure nonconforming product is not released in accordance with QSL program and procedures.Perform administrative duties such as maintain records, forms and logs including computer databases, and performing regular inventory checks and providing the Quality supervisor/Manager with a list of required supplies.What you will bring:Pursuing post-secondary education in food science or a related field of studyKnowledge of industry recognized quality control systems such as HACCP or ISO methodology is considered an assetThorough understanding of laboratory operationsDetail oriented and organizedStrong troubleshooting and continuous improvement skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office products as well as business systems such as SAPWhat Lactalis will offer:Lactalis Canada believes in rewarding its students with the following student package:A competitive salary8% vacation payHealth & dental benefits starting day 1 (including coverage for vision, mental health practitioners, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, naturopathy, and more)A paid volunteer day to give back to your communityLearning and development opportunitiesSocial events with other studentsOpportunities to learn about different functions within our companyPotential for future full time permanent opportunitiesOur ESG commitment:Our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) roadmap drives our sustainability mission.
