Come join us at the leading edge The Position: We are looking for an Applied Ecologist to join the Ecology group at CEGA. The Ecology group focuses on the sampling, data analysis, and interpretation of biodiversity data, and science communication. The Applied Ecologist will primarily work on data analysis, data interpretation, and science communication, and will support the Ecology team on other activities as needed. Primary Responsibilities:Data Analysis & Interpretation Curate and manage large datasets. Conduct statistical analyses and interpret ecological results. Maintain and develop data analysis workflows.Implement new field, analysis, data visualization, and database tools (e.g., create new ecosystem models, deploy interactive data reporting). Design and evaluate field sampling plans based on ecological models.Science CommunicationPrepare reports, presentations, and publications for technical and non-technical audiences.Participate in educational and promotional videos/multimedia showcasing our technology.Assist with planning scientific workshops and community outreach. Support collaborative and multidisciplinary projects with clients and partners.Requirements:QualificationsKnowledge of basic ecological concepts, community ecology, and statistical methods demonstrated by an undergraduate degree in ecology, environmental sciences, or associated field. Valid Canadian driver’s license. Skills & Experience1-3 years of relevant work/research experience with the ability to demonstrate:Advanced skills in statistical analysis and data visualization. Fluency with R and associated statistical packages.Proficiency in GIS software and conducting geospatial analyses.Experience in database management.Organization and time management skills to balance working on multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.Strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable with being in educational or promotional multimedia or videos showcasing our technology.Problem-solving skills to address challenges and find solutions.Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures in a DNA “clean room” environment. **Preference will be given to candidates with experience analyzing eDNA data and/or biodiversity or ecosystem modelling experience.**What CEGA offers: CEGA is driven by a passionate team revolutionizing the way we monitor our environment.
