Our client located in North York requires a Commercial Property Accountant to join their team.


Responsibilities:


  • Input and maintain tenant leases in the system, set up charges, ensure accuracy of monthly rent roll, and issue chargeback invoices to tenants;
  • Entry of receivables-related transactions into the accounting software (Yardi), including, but not limited to: cash receipts, billings, adjustments, tenant refunds, tenant allowances, tenant cheque requisitions, etc.;
  • Prepare and distribute monthly AR reports;
  • Prepare tenant statement of accounts;
  • Prepare tenant billings, and ensure timely delivery;
  • Prepare tenant Rental Advice Notices, annually and as required, for any changes to billing amounts;
  • Maintain records of tenant security deposits;
  • Entering invoices into accounts payable system;
  • Processing payments;
  • Filing and maintaining supplier records;
  • Checking and verifying invoices;
  • Preparing cheques for payment;
  • Maintain general ledger – posting journal entries, processing accruals, amortization, and depreciation;
  • Reconcile monthly bank statement;
  • Report and remit HST;
  • Work with Property managers on preparation of expense budgets both recoverable and non-recoverable;
  • Completion of annual recovery budgets for CAM and Tax;
  • Maintain tenant recovery module quarterly;
  • Prepare year-end CAM and Tax recovery reconciliations to tenants;
  • Maintain chargeback accounts;
  • Prepare quarterly property variance reports, including reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, revenue, and operating expense;
  • Assist with gathering and analyzing financial information and creating reports for various projects;
  • Liaise with on-site managers as required.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or finance;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in property accounting;
  • Understanding of full cycle accounting;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a flexible team environment;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and with minimal supervision;
  • Detail oriented, analytical, good problem solving;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • Previous experience with Yardi would be an asset (company uses Yardi Voyager).
