Urgent need for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer OIQ hybrid role in the McGill College Business district. Currently in Lachine, Quebec.

Overview:

The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of the design of innovation products, concepts and the development of working prototypes that will be used for concept validation. This person will manage various Innovation projects from concept definition to beginning of the new product development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Innovation Design projects through proof of concept to calculation and analysis.
  • Help develop design projects/products from ground up and create and develop concepts and products to present to team
  • Collaborate with product managers to develop products concepts which are based on customer insights and field research.
  • Execute market research and benchmarking to better understand competitive construction and opportunities for improvements / Innovation.
  • Develop, Design, Review 3D CAD detailed product construction using Solid Works. • Develop working prototypes for proof-of-concept testing.
  • Perform Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis for product concepts.
  • Leverage suppliers to develop innovative products securing IP ownership or exclusivity depending on nature of innovation.
  • Identify Innovation and take necessary steps to secure ownership of intellectual property. • Develop test plans that will be used to evaluate products during proof-of-concept.
  • Lead design reviews for new product concepts.

Work Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Preferred Mechanical with exposure to Electric Engineering) is mandatory.

  • Professional Engineer, Member of the OIQ (Order of Quebec Engineer).
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in product design and development.
  • Experience and exposure to designing small electromechanical devices.
  • Experience in the development documentation needed to apply for a patent is an asset.
  • Proficient in part/product design using Solid Works & must have experience in Mechanical CAD (elemental/live-test/finite element simulation experience a plus)
  • Analytical skills with an ability to break down concepts to translate their use into different applications.
  • Experience managing projects with suppliers overseas.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and lead them to successful completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication (French a plus).
  • Proven ability to multi-task and work with multiple departments and overseas suppliers.
  • Able to build components using basic tools, 3D printers or by identifying sources for needed parts

Besoin urgent d'un poste hybride d'ingénieur concepteur mécanique principal OIQ dans le quartier des affaires de McGill College. Actuellement à Lachine, au Québec.

Aperçu : L'ingénieur concepteur principal sera responsable de l'élaboration de la conception de produits innovants, de concepts et du développement de prototypes fonctionnels qui seront utilisés pour la validation des concepts. Cette personne gérera différents projets d'innovation, de la définition du concept au début du processus de développement de nouveaux produits.

Responsabilités :

  • Gérer les projets de conception d'innovation, de la démonstration de concept au calcul et à l'analyse.
  • Aider à développer des projets/produits de conception à partir de zéro et créer et développer des concepts et des produits à présenter à l'équipe.
  • Collaborer avec les chefs de produit pour développer des concepts de produits basés sur les informations des clients et les recherches sur le terrain.
  • Effectuer des études de marché et des comparaisons pour mieux comprendre la concurrence et les opportunités d'amélioration/innovation.
  • Élaborer, concevoir et examiner la construction détaillée de produits en 3D à l'aide de Solid Works.
  • Développer des prototypes fonctionnels pour des tests de validation de concept.
  • Effectuer une analyse des modes de défaillance et de leurs effets pour les concepts de produits.
  • Collaborer avec les fournisseurs pour développer des produits innovants, en sécurisant la propriété intellectuelle ou l'exclusivité en fonction de la nature de l'innovation.
  • Identifier les innovations et prendre les mesures nécessaires pour protéger la propriété intellectuelle.
  • Élaborer des plans de test qui seront utilisés pour évaluer les produits lors de la validation de concept.
  • Animer des revues de conception pour de nouveaux concepts de produits.

Expérience :

  • Diplôme de baccalauréat en génie (de préférence en génie mécanique avec une exposition au génie électrique) est obligatoire.
  • Ingénieur professionnel, membre de l'OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec).
  • Au moins 7 ans d'expérience pertinente en conception et développement de produits.
  • Expérience et exposition à la conception de petits dispositifs électromécaniques.
  • Expérience dans l'élaboration de la documentation nécessaire pour demander un brevet est un atout.
  • Maîtrise de la conception de pièces/produits à l'aide de Solid Works et expérience en conception mécanique assistée par ordinateur (expérience en simulation d'éléments finis souhaitable).
  • Compétences analytiques avec la capacité de décomposer des concepts pour les traduire dans différentes applications.
  • Expérience dans la gestion de projets avec des fournisseurs à l'étranger.
  • Capacité à gérer plusieurs projets et à les mener à bien.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication verbale et écrite (le français est un plus).
  • Capacité éprouvée à gérer plusieurs tâches et à travailler avec plusieurs départements et fournisseurs à l'étranger.
  • Capacité à construire des composants à l'aide d'outils de base, d'imprimantes 3D ou à identifier des sources pour les pièces nécessaires.
