Civil 3D Designer - Municipal Infrastructure & Land Development

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a Civil 3D Designer with at least 3 years of experience in municipal infrastructure and land development. Essential qualifications include proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, a Civil Engineering Degree, Technology diploma or equivalent. The role demands strong Microsoft Office skills and a deep understanding of municipal design principles. While not required, additional skills like MMCD certification and experience in water modelling and sanitary drafting are beneficial. Responsibilities include designing, drafting, project coordination, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards.

Must Haves:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for designing municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in design and drafting of municipal infrastructure and private development projects.
  • Civil Engineering Degree, Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Registered or eligibility for professional registration with ASTTBC or EGBC as an EIT or P. Eng.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Solid understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles and best practices, including MMCD standards and specifications.

Nice to Haves:

  • MMCD Certified Contract Administrator (CAA) Certificate.
  • Proficiency using water modelling software such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring accurate and efficient design outputs in line with project specifications.
  • Maintaining clear communication and coordination with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Adhering to local and national engineering standards and regulations in all designs.
  • Contributing to project planning and execution, ensuring timely delivery of design documents.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to junior staff and team members.
  • Responsible for linear infrastructure design, including water, sanitary, stormwater management, roads, and earthworks.
  • Preparing detailed engineering drawings for various municipal projects.
  • Coordinating projects, managing drawings, and overseeing support staff.
  • Performing quantity take-offs and cost estimating for municipal projects.
