Job Title: Export Sales Engineer - Power Transformers (Canada)


Job Overview

We are seeking a results-driven Export Sales Engineer to lead sales efforts for power transformers in Canada, with a primary focus on the Construction & Industrial (C&I) market. Based in the Toronto or Calgary area, this role combines strategic business development, technical expertise, and a customer-centric approach to expand market share and meet growth objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in power transformers and demonstrate a proven ability to build relationships, drive revenue, and execute sales strategies.


Essential Functions


Sales Strategy & Business Development:

  • Develop and execute sales growth strategies tailored to the Canadian C&I market.
  • Identify and penetrate new, growing, and emerging market segments within Canada.
  • Increase sales, profitability, hit rates, market share, and customer satisfaction, meeting company goals and objectives.
  • Leverage channel partners and other resources to maintain a robust inquiry pipeline, providing a foundation for future quoting and booking activities.


Customer Engagement:

  • Build and strengthen relationships with key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Provide technical guidance and high-quality, timely, and accurate quotations in collaboration with application engineers.
  • Continuously monitor and act on outstanding quotes to maximize inquiry-to-quote conversion and achieve order booking goals.


Consultative Selling:

  • Utilize technical knowledge of power transformers to provide tailored solutions addressing customer needs.
  • Facilitate negotiations for major opportunities, ensuring alignment with the company's commercial goals.


Channel Management:

  • Support and manage manufacturer’s representatives, EPCs, contractors, and distributors to meet inquiry generation and sales objectives.
  • Provide product training and sales support to channel partners, measuring and enhancing their performance to achieve sales targets.


Market Intelligence & Reporting:

  • Define and maintain critical market intelligence, including insights into market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
  • Provide timely, high-quality inputs to the quotation data system and customer management tools.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling sales collateral that highlights the company’s value propositions.


Project Coordination:

  • Partner with project managers to ensure open communication, timely resolution of issues, and smooth order execution to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.


Qualifications


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of technical sales experience in the power transformer or medium/high-voltage electrical equipment market.
  • Proven track record of growing assigned market segments year-over-year.


Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of power transformers, medium voltage distribution, and related services such as field testing and commissioning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, build relationships, and close complex sales opportunities.
  • Proficiency in managing channel partners and a strong understanding of the Canadian C&I market.


Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 40-50% of the time within Canada.
  • Residency in Toronto or Calgary, Canada.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
