We have recently expanded our mandate to provide broader advocacy and services to investment dealers, including with respect to Canada's capital markets. As such we are in the process of also expanding our statistics team.

Position Summary:

The Statistics Analyst will assist in the collection and maintenance of investment management data.

Reporting to the Director of Statistics, the position's primary duties are to support the gathering of dealer data as well as assisting in the collection monthly asset and sales data for mutual funds and ETFs. The role involves detecting and investigating data quality issues.

The position requires an individual with experience working with data in Microsoft Excel and a demonstrated ability to perform data tasks with a high level of accuracy.

The role is ideal for someone who has an interest in expanding their knowledge of the investment management industry and further developing their analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning and reporting of investment management data.
  • Perform data validation checks to ensure accuracy and quality of data.
  • Research and update fund product information and data from regulatory documents in order to maintain the data integrity of the investment fund database.
  • Work collaboratively with other analysts on Statistics team.
  • Participate on special or expanded data projects as needed.
  • Keep up to date on investment management industry news.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma or University degree in relevant fields such as finance, math, accounting, data

management and data science, and investments.

  • Experience working with data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills:

Pivot tables and reporting

Formula functions (e.g. sumif, vlookup, countif, etc.)

Data validation checks (e.g. conditional formatting, duplicate values, etc.)

Data sorting and filtering

Creating charts

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly with Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Timeline driven with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of the investment funds industry is an asset.

Work Environment:

This position is based in Toronto and operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring at least two days per week in IFIC's downtown office. IFIC fosters an inclusive and flexible work environment that supports professional growth and work-life balance.
