Job Summary:


You are a skilled, detail-oriented and fast pre-press and pre-flight operator in our pre-production and creative services team. This person plays a crucial role in the print production process by ensuring that all digital files are prepared accurately and efficiently for printing, reviewing and verifying all incoming files, generating client proofs, performing file set up and imposition for press, some color corrections and adjustments when necessary, and ensuring that all print production specifications are met.


The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of pre-press techniques, excellent technical skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop in MacOS, and a keen eye for detail.

Additional software skills are an asset.


Responsibilities:

 

  1. Receive and review digital files for print production, ensuring that all files are complete and meet the required specifications.
  2. Verify that the digital files are in the correct format and resolution for the desired print output.
  3. Collaborate with the CSR team and customers to address any issues or concerns related to file preparation and provide technical recommendations.
  4. Perform pre-flight checks to identify and resolve any potential issues that may affect the print quality or production process.
  5. Make necessary adjustments to digital files, including color corrections, image retouching, and adjusting file sizes as required.
  6. Ensure that all print files are properly prepared and organized, adhering to the established file naming conventions and file management system.
  7. Calibrate and maintain pre-press equipment, including color management systems, monitor accuracy, proofing devices, etc., to ensure accurate and consistent print output.
  8. Collaborate with the print production team to ensure that all pre-press specifications and requirements are communicated effectively.
  9. Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or printing errors that may arise during the pre-press process.
  10. Maintain accurate records of all pre-press activities, including job details, file versions, and any modifications made during the production process.
  11. Stay updated on the latest pre-press technologies, software applications, and industry trends to continuously improve processes and maintain a high level of expertise.
  12. Adhere to quality control standards and procedures to ensure that all print materials meet the required specifications and customer expectations.
  13. Collaborate with the CSR and production team to ensure that all print jobs are completed on time and according to the production schedule.


Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in graphic design, printing technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Pre-Press Operator in a printing company or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in pre-press software applications, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), PDF workflows, and imposition software.
  • Strong understanding of color management, image resolution, and file optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of different printing processes, including offset printing, digital printing, and flexography.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve potential issues before printing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Proficient in using both Mac and PC platforms though we are a Mac environment.
  • Knowledge of print production processes, finishing techniques, and industry standards.
  • Understanding of file formats, color modes (CMYK, RGB), and print specifications.
  • Ability to interpret and follow job tickets, customer instructions, and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with RIP software and color proofing systems is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality output.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and software applications in the pre-press field.
