Job Title: Chief Estimator - Commercial General Contractor

Location: Calgary, Canada


Our client, a reputable commercial general contractor in Calgary, is seeking a highly experienced Chief Estimator to join their team. As the Chief Estimator, you will play a key role in leading the estimating team and ensuring accurate and timely project estimates for commercial construction projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the estimating team, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and site visits.
  • Provide accurate and timely estimates for new projects and change orders.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
