By joining our team you will be involved in designs suitable for built-in applications such as mechanical devices and parts for healthcare instrumentation industries, automotive and other applications. We are looking for someone who can truly own their projects, carry them independently through successful design, and have the potential to oversee prototyping and testing. The ability to estimate the amount of work necessary to complete the design(s) based on the customer requirements is critical.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering is considered an asset but not a requirement;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the design and development of industrial instrumentation equipment and products;
  • Knowledge of the use of electrical devices (i.e. switches, sensors, load cells, etc.);
  • Experience in the design and development of Opto-electro-mechanical devices;
  • Design of precision small-to-medium size assemblies;
  • Knowledge of modern mechanical design principles and methods;
  • Independent creation from customer specifications to fully completed mechanical drawings ready for the manufacturing shop;
  • Excellent understanding of geometrical dimensioning, tolerancing and tolerance stack-up analysis;
  • Experience in utilizing digital metrology tools and techniques for accurate measurement and inspection;
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD, 3D CAD, specifically SolidWorks and other mechanical design and analysis software;
  • Proficient at reading, understanding and production of technical drawings and specifications;
  • Able and willing to interact with potential customers in the understanding of the customer’s requirements and specifications;
  • Proficient in the creation of clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation;
  • Sound working knowledge of Excel, Word and other MS Office software.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Highly organized, with attention to detail, to meet deadlines, problem-solve and balance multiple tasks;
  • Self-motivated to cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships;
  • Ability to adapt and be open to considering different viewpoints;
  • Ability to work independently but must be approachable, open to feedback, and willing to contribute to a positive team culture;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision;
  • Strong commitment to safety.

 

Additional Qualifications Are Considered an Asset:

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng);
  • Product design experience.


An accompanying cover letter would be valued as a strong asset.


Salary range: $85,000 to $105,000, plus benefits.


Travel:

  • Local travel is required; the position is project-based and will entail remote working relationships with customers. Travel is required during specific stages of the project development and build.
