Position Overview   

We are currently recruiting an exceptional Mechanical Engineer who will play a pivotal role in driving our commercialization efforts and shaping the future of sustainable packaging. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal role in driving our commercialization efforts and shaping the future of sustainable packaging. You will face challenging and rewarding problems, such as designing and building Nfinite’s coating systems, creating things the world has never seen before.   


What You Will Do:  

The Mechanical Engineer will design, prototype, and validate key components for Nfinite's nanocoating platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience taking a project from concept to production, working closely with Nfinite's team to help validate and scale their nanocoating platforms.  

  • Design and build prototypes to test and refine the technology. 
  • Design and develop complex precision mechanical components, assembly, and associated drawings and documentations.  
  • Work with suppliers on manufacturing aspects like materials and processes. 
  • Set up experiments or Design of Experiments (DoE) to validate the performance of the prototype and scale the technology from lab to commercial scales.  
  • Transfer optimized designs to manufacturing partners for commercial production. 
  • Conducting CFD simulations and kinetics analysis to optimize designs. 


What We Are Looking For: 

  • 5-8 years of experience with equal focus in designing mechanical systems/products and running simulations. 
  • Proficiency in Fluid Mechanics, CFD, kinetics, prototyping, and Design of Experiments. 
  • Experience in scaling technologies from lab demonstration to commercialization.  
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities. 
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing partners. 
  • Experience designing for conventional precision machining and additive manufacturing.   
  • Creativity and comfort with rapid prototyping methods. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Eligible to register or are registered at Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as an EIT or P.Eng. 
  • Have experience with full product development cycle, program management, change order controls, supplier industrialization engineering and product lifecycle management. 
  • Familiar with microcontrollers and PLC systems. 
  • Have experience with system/equipment scaling for mass production and roll-to-roll web handling manufacturing process.
