CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER IN TRAINING

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Natural Forces is seeking an Engineer In Training (EIT) who has recently graduated from a civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering degree to fill a position on the Construction Team as a Construction EIT. Our team is responsible for the construction of renewable energy projects. This is a full-time field-based position for a Wind Project located in the West Hants area. The primary responsibilities of the role will be:
- Assisting in the daily management of the project site including managing access to portions of site
- Reviewing plans and safety documentation
- Writing progress reports, attending meetings, and upholding best management practices.
KEY TASKS/DUTIES
- Uphold all aspects of Natural Forces Health, Safety & Environment policies, practices and programs in every aspect of work.
- Ensure Safe Work Practices throughout the project site
- Participating in daily safety and coordination meetings
- Review work plans and safety documentation to uphold a safe working environment
- Ensure all environmental commitments are adhered to on the project site
- Assisting with the daily and weekly construction progress reports.
- Manage access and monitor construction activities on turbine pads, identifying issues related to safety, engineering, quality, environment and schedule.
- Ensure that the appropriate Safe Work Procedures and Field Level Risk Assessments have been undertaken prior to works commencement at the turbine pads.
- Work with the contractors and construction team to safely co-ordinate the works interfaces and shard works spaces
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Recently graduated from a post-secondary degree with background civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering or a related discipline.
- Construction related experience considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of construction equipment, materials, and drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Passionate about safety, the environment, construction and renewable energy.
- Comfortable working long hours on a remote construction site.
- Strong communicator, verbal and written.
- Team player, capable of respectfully working with people in a variety of roles on the project site.
- Construction related experience considered an asset.
- Should be willing and able to climb wind turbines.
- Preference will be given to First Nations applicants.
- Must have a valid Nova Scotia driver's license.
