Opportunity: Controller Position at National Organization


Our esteemed client, a national organization, is in search of a Controller poised for a dynamic challenge in their next endeavor. The ideal candidate will excel in cultivating relationships with stakeholders at all organizational tiers, demonstrating robust leadership and coaching capabilities.


This position offers a very competitive salary, benefits, and a bonus (upto to 15-20%).


Responsibilities:


As an integral member of the Management Team, the Controller assumes a hands-on role in ensuring the Accounting and Finance team delivers essential services vital for the operational and financial triumph of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be a seasoned professional with a passion and dedication to steer the company towards future success.



  • Supervise the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and orchestrate external year-end reviews.
  • Oversee multi-location financial reporting, encompassing standardization of reporting procedures and review protocols.
  • Manage Accounting Services (payroll, AP, AR, and general accounting) and orchestrate departmental assignments.
  • Analyze and interpret accounting and operational data to project profitability and gauge performance against budget.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Identify innovative opportunities that drive financial prosperity.
  • Ensure punctual preparation of month-end financial statements.
  • Spearhead month-end closures for all divisions while maintaining essential schedules like fixed assets and amortization schedules, along with month-end adjusting entries.
  • Assist in reconciliations as necessary for audited financial statements.
  • Offer insights and commentary on monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing perspective on individual operations across the region.
  • Pioneer and implement process enhancements and accounting control measures.
  • Take charge of coordinating and submitting annual budget preparations.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.


Role Requirements:



  • Completion of pertinent post-secondary education (minimum Bachelor’s degree in related field).
  • Possession of a professional designation (CA, CGA, or CMA).
  • A minimum of 4-5 years' experience in a comparable role within a large private organization.
  • Experience in the manufacturing and/or transportation industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking, and an aptitude for executing formulated strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of instigating positive change through structured training, coaching, and engagement initiatives.
  • Previous experience in managing a team comprising both direct and indirect reports in a multi-site operating environment.
