The Senior Product Owner plays a crucial role in guiding the development and delivery of a product or feature, ensuring that it aligns with the overall product vision and meets the needs of the customer. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, prioritizing tasks, and making critical decisions throughout the product development lifecycle.


Reporting to the Senior Manager of Product Ownership, the ideal candidate will work very closely with Product Manager to understand the product strategy and roadmap and to translate user requirements into actionable stories and make the product evolve within the Agile methodology.


Position Responsibilities:

• Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.

• Forge strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, quality assurance, and Product Manager, to ensure a harmonious product development journey.

• Work in an Agile environment, applying Fairstone best practices to continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.

• Curate and maintain the product backlog based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology, ensuring it's well-groomed, properly prioritized, and geared for development.

• Articulate comprehensive user stories with clear requirements and acceptance criteria to guide the development process effectively.

• Employ critical thinking and proactive decision-making to tackle challenges, eliminate roadblocks, and maintain development momentum.

• Establish mechanisms for gathering and integrating feedback from stakeholders, customers, and the development team to iteratively enhance the product.

• Employ strong communication skills to disseminate regular updates on the product's progress, modifications, developments, and issues to stakeholders and team members.

• Oversee the validation of the delivered product against predefined acceptance criteria and quality benchmarks to ensure customer satisfaction through regular support and monitoring.

• Define and apply product and technology best practices, and coach the team to ensure alignment on such practices

• Influence positively the team, create positive experience for the team and highlight success for colleagues and teams

• Lead discovery phases for new major features and processes

• Act as the point of contact for enterprise / cross-product initiatives

• Able to adapt very quickly no mater the technology nor the level of advancement of the projects they start looking at

• Available for all relevant calls related to emergency issues

• Maintain harmony within the team and mediate where needed

• Participate in the prioritization of initiatives at enterprise level


Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the Agile Scrum and Kanban framework

• 7-10 years experience in technology or business analysis

• Ability to understand and translate user requirements into technically-sound stories

• Analytical mindset and critical thinking skills

• Adapts quickly to change

• Excellent communication skills

• Working knowledge of Atlassian’s JIRA and Confluence

• University degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent work experience

• Bilingualism an asset
