The position holder assumes several key responsibilities, including assessing rehabilitation needs, managing rehabilitation cases (documentation, communication, payments), creating and following up on rehabilitation plans, coordinating stakeholders for a swift resolution of disability, supporting analysts, and negotiating lump-sum settlements. As a Rehabilitation Advisor, you will be a crucial link in helping our insured clients in Ontario return to work after a period of disability.


SPECIFIC TASKS

  • Determine rehabilitation needs, potential, and relevance of a referral in collaboration with the analyst and/or coordinator
  • Take full charge of the management of cases transferred for rehabilitation
  • Establish, closely monitor, and successfully complete realistic and cost-effective rehabilitation plans
  • Select, hire, and develop business relationships with service and care providers
  • Be responsible for contracts and incurred expenses
  • Work in partnership to regularly exchange information with the various stakeholders involved in the case
  • Coordinate different stakeholders and their involvement to ensure a quick, safe, and cost-effective resolution of the disability
  • Ensure continuous communication and provide advice and support to analysts in their disability cases
  • Negotiate with insured individuals and reinsurers for lump-sum settlements
  • Manage a caseload of approximately thirty rehabilitation cases


QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in guidance counseling or a relevant field
  • Knowledge of best practices and industry standards in the insurance sector
  • Valid driver's license (mandatory)
  • Experience in disability management (asset)
  • Specialization in mediation, conflict resolution (asset)
  • Experience in a Rehabilitation Advisor role with an insurer or a reputable firm (asset)
  • Bilingual (French and English), you can interact with french-speaking clients and partners in your role, both in writing and verbally

Additionally, they have excellent conflict management skills and play the role of facilitator with ease. Their effective communication and team spirit are complemented by a strong capacity for introspection, allowing for continuous self-improvement.


The Rehabilitation Advisor must be familiar with rehabilitation firms and have an extensive network in Ontario. They must be available for frequent travel in Ontario to meet with clients and partners. They must be fluent in English and have a good command of French.


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be mobile and able to travel using their own vehicle for in-person meetings with the insured and/or employer, and possibly some care providers
  • May be required to travel across Canada, mainly in Ontario
  • Must be able to report to the head office when required
  • Demonstrate autonomy with computer equipment
