About the position
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, reconciliation, and quality control of financial reports for Valero's Canadian operations. This role involves preparing and designing the Canadian non-consolidated financial statements and supervising the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. In the absence of the Manager, the Supervisor will assume overall responsibility for the financial reporting department.
Responsabilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly operational financial reports. Ensure the timely preparation of SEC forms 10Q and 10K.
- Monthly Reconciliations: Serve as a resource person for the balance sheet reconciliation process, preparing and analyzing various account reconciliations.
- Supervision: Oversee the month-end closing tasks performed by the Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, ensuring timely completion.
- Business Warehouse (BW): Validate the various databases and initiate necessary corrections.
- Intercompany Accounts: Check, confirm, and analyze all intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.
- Banking: Prepare bank reconciliations for all Canadian bank accounts.
- Budget: Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget for administrative expenses.
- Audit: Prepare and validate Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
- CPA accounting designation or actively working towards obtaining one.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in an accounting role, ideally in finance.
- Proven experience in financial analysis within a complex environment.
- Proficiency with an integrated accounting system (preferably SAP) and Business Warehouse (BW).
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to identify and resolve problems with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in both English and French is essential.
- A high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team, motivating team members.
Valero Energy Inc. is governed by the Charter of the French Language. However, knowledge of English is considered necessary for performing the tasks of this position. The individual in this position will be required to review documents and interact both verbally and in writing with colleagues at the head office in Texas or in other Canadian provinces, or with various stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, unilingual anglophone business partners.
