Great Opportunity for a Financial Analyst (FP&A & Excel Ninja)

(Full-Time, Hybrid)

Overview:


Our client, a leading name in the manufacturing industry, is in search of a Financial Analyst (FP&A & Excel Ninja) to join their dynamic team in a full-time hybrid role. This hybrid role is based in North Toronto, and you should be comfortable coming to the office 2-3 days per week. You'll ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations and assist in both internal and external audits. Reporting directly to and supporting the Director of FP&A, your success in this role will depend on your strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel, and ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.



As a Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial information to support decision-making processes in the organization. Your responsibilities will include financial planning and analysis (FP&A), where you will develop and maintain financial models essential for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning. Strong expertise in Excel is required, as you will be analyzing and interpreting complex financial data, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization. In this fast-paced environment, comparable to the demands of a private equity firm, you must be comfortable managing a high workload while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.


Your role will also involve conducting detailed cost analysis of manufacturing operations, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, and collaborating with operations teams to implement cost control measures. You will prepare and present comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reports, ensuring accuracy during month-end and year-end closing processes. A key expectation is that you can explain and articulate financial data provided by accounting to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, as well as present your findings to upper management with confidence.


Additionally, you will monitor inventory levels and costs, optimize inventory turnover, and evaluate capital expenditure proposals with ROI assessments. Your analytical mindset and ability to think creatively ("out of the box") will be essential in developing financial models for scenario analysis and contributing to strategic decision-making. You'll collaborate closely with departments such as Operations, Procurement, and Supply Chain to provide valuable financial insights.



Responsibilities:


  • Analyze and interpret financial data to assist in budget planning and management
  • Conduct regular reviews of budget processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess financial trends and provide accurate projections
  • Regularly analyze revenues to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Contribute to the development of the annual budget and ensure its alignment with organizational goals
  • Assist in the management of the annual capital to ensure optimal allocation of resources.


Requirements


  • 3-6 years of experience as a financial analyst
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budget processes is essential
  • Strong analytical skills are required for data interpretation
  • Ability to analyze trends for cost management and forecasting
  • Experience in analyzing revenues to understand financial performance
  • Familiarity with annual budget preparation and execution
  • Understanding of annual capital expenditure planning and tracking
  • Subject Matter Expert in Excel
