SUMMARY:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the organization's needs. This role involves working closely with suppliers, internal teams, and departments to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and the quality of products. The Buyer will also track inventory levels, monitor market trends, and manage purchase orders to maintain an optimal supply chain and support business operations.

Job Type: Full Time, 40h/week

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and monitor raw materials/packaging to meet production requirements based on requirements and forecasts.
• Exercise good working knowledge of materials and sources of supply to make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
• Identify and evaluate sources of supply that meet the company's quality and quantity requirements.
• Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers on behalf of the company.
• Negotiate prices, delivery, deadlines, etc. with suppliers
• Establish long-term purchasing plans based on forecasts, goals and objectives that support departmental and company objectives. Monitor objectives to ensure compliance.
• Work with receiving, accounting and suppliers to reconcile discrepancies in receiving and invoicing.
• Coordinate with other departments: Logistics, QC, R&D, Production, Shipping/Receiving, Accounting and Sales.
• Configure and maintain material and supplier data in the ERP system.
• Creates and runs reports on raw materials and packaging: quantities on hand versus reorder points and forecasts.
• Issue and track purchase orders for raw materials and packaging.
• Contacts suppliers to schedule deliveries, resolve shortages, missed deliveries, non-conformances and other issues that may arise.
• Prepare and maintain purchasing records, reports and price lists.
• Track, update and close purchase orders.
• Cyclic counting of packaging.
• Perform other special tasks/projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• 3 years of experience in an office environment, preferably in purchasing or production planning
• Previous experience in the food industry is an asset.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Demonstrated ability in negotiation and management of supplier accounts
• Detail oriented
• Proven ability for data entry and figures
• Practical experience and good knowledge of the Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
