Overview: I'm partnered with a leading medical communications agency specializing in delivering high-impact medical and scientific communications. The agency are seeking an experienced and dynamic Group Account Director to lead their dermatology account, focusing primarily on medical affairs deliverables with a secondary focus on promotional medical education. This role is pivotal in managing client relationships, ensuring the delivery of top-quality work, and driving the strategic direction of the account.


Key Responsibilities:


Client Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the dermatology account, fostering strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Understand clients’ strategic objectives, provide strategic insights, and ensure alignment of deliverables with their goals.
  • Anticipate client needs and proactively offer solutions to exceed expectations.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the development and execution of a wide range of medical affairs deliverables including but not limited to advisory boards, medical education programs, scientific publications, slide decks, and digital assets.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of projects within budget, meeting the highest standards of quality and scientific accuracy.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (medical writers, editors, designers, and project managers) to ensure seamless project execution.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that drive account growth and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and strategic discussions to generate innovative ideas and solutions for clients.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, treatments, and developments in dermatology to provide informed guidance and direction.

Team Management:

  • Mentor and manage a team of account managers and executives, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, encouraging continuous professional development.

Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for account expansion and new business within the dermatology therapeutic area.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling pitches and presentations to potential clients.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the medical affairs, creative, and digital teams to ensure integrated and cohesive service delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage expertise and resources across the agency.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Life Sciences, Communications, Marketing); advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or similar) preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in medical communications or a related field, with a focus on dermatology.
  • Proven experience in managing medical affairs projects and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional client management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
