Job Title: Backend / DevOps EngineerContract: 18 monthsLocation: Hybrid, Vancouver, BC Requirement: 4 days in the office, Downtown VancouverOverview:We’re seeking a Backend / DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in AWS, Python, and Terraform to design, deploy, and maintain scalable, serverless cloud applications. This role combines back-end development with DevOps responsibilities to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of modern microservices architectures.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain serverless applications using AWS Lambda, Fargate, and API Gateway.Build and manage infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and CloudFormation.Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred).Develop and monitor cloud applications with Python, ensuring high performance and reliability.Set up monitoring and alerting using tools like CloudWatch, DataDog, or Splunk.Collaborate with engineers to deliver secure, efficient solutions and reusable infrastructure modules.Contribute to automation, documentation, and continuous improvement of DevOps practices.Qualifications:5–8+ years of Backend/DevOps experience.Hands-on expertise with AWS services, Python, and Terraform.Experience deploying and maintaining serverless microservices.Knowledge of RESTful APIs, CI/CD, and cloud observability tools.Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
