The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of construction projects, specifically within the Commercial/Retail ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) sector. This includes new design/build projects and fit-outs. The role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, who ensures that all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with the project schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Team Management: Lead and supervise all site personnel, including subcontractors, ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Coordination: Work closely with the Project Manager, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets the company’s quality standards and project specifications.
  • Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel. Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during construction, such as unforeseen site conditions, material delays, or labor shortages.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including progress reports, safety inspections, and change orders. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule, coordinating with all trades and suppliers to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to the budget. Work with the Project Manager to forecast and manage potential cost overruns.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent in the Commercial/Retail ICI sector, with a strong background in new design/build and fit-out projects.
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Valid safety certifications such as OSHA, WHMIS, and First Aid are required.
