Senior Java Developer

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing group has an opening for a Senior Java Developer with strong experience with Java development, XML, Swift, Mule, SQL, and exposure to Payments domain to place at our client, a large Financial Institution.

Client: Big Five Bank

Contract: 12-month contract rolling

Location: Toronto, Downtown Core (Hybrid, 3 days a week)

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the user requirements
  • Designing, creating, and implementing Mule based applications
  • Interpreting briefs to create high-quality coding that functions according to specifications
  • Determining application functions and building objectives with team
  • Ensuring written falls in line with the project objectives
  • Problem solving with other team members in the project
  • Identifying and resolving immediate and potential issues with applications
  • Drafting detailed reports on the work performed and projects completed
  • Participating in group meetings to discuss projects and objectives
  • Assisting other developers with troubleshooting, debugging and coding
  • Meeting deadlines on fast-paced deliverables

Key Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years experience in development
  • Strong foundation in programming languages, software design patterns, frameworks and knowledge of relevant technologies
  • Ability to create scalable, reliable and efficient system architectures, considering factors like performance, security and maintainability
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills to address challenges in system design and implementation
  • Ability to collaborate with other SMEs and other partners to design the feasible solutions
  • Payments domain knowledge especially dealing with XML, Text formats of ISO and SWIFT
  • Thorough documentation of architectural decisions, design patterns and codebase knowledge
  • Exprience with Programming including Java, IBM, Mule, SQL, XML/XSLT
  • Experience with architecture and design
