Job Title: Environment Technologist

Location: Calgary, AB

Length: 18-Month contract to start

Rotation: Mon-Fri 8 hours a day

Travel: expected to travel to site once a month as needed.


Description:

The Environment Technologist is a member of the Process Technology team, reporting to the Process Technology Team Lead. This is a key position on the team, who will be providing subject matter expertise and engineering support for compliance, permitting, environmental reporting and focused projects and initiatives across the client’s asset to maintain our license to operate. The Environment Technologist is expected to demonstrate knowledge to skill level understanding of environmental risk areas to:

  • compliance management systems are established and implemented to meet applicable environmental and company regulatory requirements,
  • business drivers to develop and deliver high quality, fit for purpose mitigations/improvements in addressing the client’s environmental risk areas, in a few of the following areas: GHGwastewater/water quality, air quality, pollutant dispersion, estimation, measurement, waste control and/or related impact assessment processes.
  • with GHG and energy management focal GHG emission inventory tracking and reporting and provide technical guidance to the client’s existing environmental programs.
  • and progress environment opportunities and improvements across the client’s asset using the appropriate work processes – MTO, MOC, Project Delivery, ME, etc.
  • with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., Operations, Business Group, Corporate Relations, Regulators, NGOs, and community) to deliver environment opportunities and risk management.
  • the client’s existing environmental programs and contribute to the client’s license to operate requirements
  • and operationalize tracking and reporting tools to meet requirements in air and water pemits. This includes being able to do conversion for air and water pollutants from ppm (CEMS) to volumes
  • and reviewing monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to the government in collaboration with the environment and instrumentation team.
  • in data valiadation and reconciliation, including eing able to look at plant process data and complete data valiadation by ensuring that any erroneous data is filtered out in reporting and replaced with an appropriate engineering estimateProvide recommendations on the application of relevant internal standards, technical aspects of legislative requirements, and external standards & policy; partner with Corporate Relations as the client’s Regulatory & Permitting focal point on current and emerging regulations and policies.
  • in external verification for Compliance & Assurance on Environment related standards, e.g., ISO 14001 and GHG emissions reporting.

You will use your expertise to:

  • on technological services to meet the client’s business principles and objectives, including environmentalperformance, monitoring, testing and process optimizations.
  • and nurture a close working relationship with other Technical and engineering SMEs through networking and execution of studies and projects.
  • tools & keep abreast of new technologies and drive case for change that will improve environmental performance.
  • and optimize effective liaison with process technology, environmental, digital, operations and engineering teams. Closely interact with the laboratory to ensure methods, limits and sample schedule provide the correct feedback for supporting production, engineering and various process test-runs.
  • state-of-the-art methods and tools are available for the required internal and external environmental reporting.


To be successful, you will have:

  1. Eng. in relevant engineering (e.g., Chemical, Process, or Environmental).
  • least 10 years of relevant technical experience, preferably at or associated with an Operating Site.
  • facilitation skills and the ability to influence others.
  • to manage multiple projects with multi-disciplined teams.
  • will be for a candidate with knowledge of Carbon Intensity, Life Cycle Analysis, GHG emissions control technology, assessment and design use.
  • of Provincial and Federal Low Carbon/GHG Regulations

  • on how we seek to achieve Energy Efficiency and GHG abatement in our current operations and future projects.

  • appreciation of Gas business processes and principles and experience in a Major Gas/LNG Project is an advantage.
  • systematic approach to technical and multi-disciplinary challenges.
  • analytical abilities having knowledge of process engineering tools and facility value drivers knowhow.
  • to contribute to decision support and assurance as well as carrying out hands on technical evaluations.
  • with internal and external interfaces with strong spoken and written communication skills.


This role requires that you:

  • position will be initially resourced for 18 months post which a decision will be made for permanent position.
  • role will be based in Calgary, BC. Travel to Kitimat once a month for 1 week is expected.
  • working pattern 8 hrs/day 5 days a week.
  • overtime prior to approval by company team leader.
  • of position (ASAP).

  • a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
