Manager- Risk & Insurance

We're on the lookout for a talented individual to join our team as a Commercial Underwriter. In this role, you'll be entrusted with assessing risks, leveraging your experience to make sound underwriting decisions. Your communication skills will play an essential role to engage with the various stakeholders, providing them with the required support and cultivating fostering relationships. ● Shift: Monday-Friday, 9AM – 5PM

● Location: On-Site, Toronto

● Role Type: Permanent


Responsibilities

● Develops and executes strategies for direct member interactions to ensure excellent service and positive experiences.

● Monitors and manages customer expectations and satisfaction with insurance solutions.

● Committed to understanding members' exposures and business processes.

● Oversees all stages of the insurance policy lifecycle, from pre-renewal to new business quotations.

● Manages products including CGL, Fleet Vehicle, Property, Directors & Officers, Crime, Excess, and Credit insurance.

● Provides expert advice on underwriting and risk management.

● Develops strategies and tools for accurate underwriting and rating information validation.

● Organizes and conducts seminars to enhance members' risk management skills.

● Performs detailed analysis to identify trends and recommend loss mitigation strategies.

● Ensures customer satisfaction with the risk management process.

● Builds strong relationships with business units and partners to manage client risks effectively.

● Identifies and researches emerging risks, reports findings, and aids in developing coverage solutions.

● Drafts and distributes risk management resources and communications.

● Performs other duties as assigned.

● Develops and implements plans to grow and retain business, using technology and traditional channels.

● Engages in direct client relationship activities and supports sales efforts.


Qualifications

● Holds a diploma in business administration, risk management, or a related discipline.

● Certifications: Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) designation; Certified Risk Management (CRM) designation is advantageous; possessing a RIBO license is a plus.

● Close to 5+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, particularly with complex CGL and Property exposures; knowledge of the electricity sector is beneficial.

● In-depth knowledge of commercial property/casualty products, including CGL, D&O, Property, Boiler & Machinery, Crime, Fleet Automobile, and Cyber insurance.

● Broad understanding of various insurance classes and underwriting issues.

● Advanced consultative skills, with the ability to establish collaborative relationships at all organizational levels.

● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise risk assessment summaries and perspectives for stakeholders.

● Strong attention to detail with proficiency in researching, compiling, and reporting data.

● Excellent presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills.

● Outstanding time management and organizational skills.

● High-energy, motivated team player.

● Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
