JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Director, Contract Surety will help oversee the day-to-day underwriting operations of RAISE's surety practice. This role involves managing a team and ensuring underwriting excellence. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and analyzing underwriting data to build and maintain a profitable book of business within the Contract Surety team.
  • Producing and underwriting new and existing contract surety business.
  • Qualifying customers' financial, technical, and organizational capacity within RAISE's appetite against business opportunities, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Providing detailed recommendations for bond and account support by conducting financial and credit analysis.
  • Making decisions and approving bonds within account or underwriting authority.
  • Monitoring the current portfolio and assisting with peer audits to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Maintaining high levels of service with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Serving as the key contact for an assigned portfolio of accounts.
  • Identifying opportunities to upsell products.
  • Driving profitability, retention, and written premium goals.
  • Ensuring proper data capture and management for ongoing tracking and monitoring of reports for existing products.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing markets to ensure RAISE has a thorough understanding of appetites and capacity.
  • Serving as a product line expert, maintaining thorough knowledge of product features and benefits, and providing product expertise to various internal and external audiences.
  • Providing effective daily leadership, coaching, and motivation to team members to ensure service and quality objectives are met.
  • Assisting in the training and development of team members, and providing technical expertise and advice regarding products, systems, and processes.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of experience in the insurance industry, with contract surety experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership positions.
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues and strong relationship management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize product requirements clearly using appropriate documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
