About the Role:

As a Project Superintendent, you will provide overall supervision, coordination, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities on-site to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standard. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing health and safety programs, managing resources, and developing positive relationships with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership: Lead site operations to ensure the project progresses according to the established scheduled, budget, and quality expectations. Foster collaboration and clear communication among all project stakeholders, including subcontractors, clients, and consultants.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed project schedules and critical path timelines, including daily, weekly, and monthly plans. Adjust schedules proactively to accommodate changes and ensure milestones are achieved without compromising quality.
  • Safety Management: Enforce Eastern's Health & Safety Policy and Ontario Health & Safety Act compliance on-site. Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and toolbox talks to promote a safe work environment. Oversee the resolution of any safety violations or incidents.
  • Resource Management: Allocate and manage labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet project deadlines. Coordinate the suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Quality Control: Inspect ongoing work to ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications. Proactively identify and resolve quality issues before they escalate.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any disputes between subcontractors, labourers, or other stakeholders. Serve as the point of contact for on-site challenges, escalating issues as needed to project management.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare daily site reports, tracking progress, delays, and incidents. Review and approve field orders, RFIs, timesheets, and safety documents. Submit detailed reports to project managers regarding site status, risks, and completed milestones.
  • Client & Stakeholders Relations: Maintain positive relationships with client by providing consistent updates and addressing concerns promptly. Represent Eastern Construction at project meetings, ensuring the company's standards and commitments are upheld.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to prevent delays, cost overruns, or safety hazards.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, or Trade Designation. Gold Seal Certification or progress toward it is an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Superintendent, with a strong understanding of construction processes, finance, and management. Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and performance metrics is essential.
  • Skills: Leadership, organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with teams and stakeholders.
