On behalf of our public sector client, we are looking for an experienced Microsoft System Administrator who can help implement best practices in a mainly Microsoft environment and share their experience with our clients team.


This is a contract opportunity of 6 months with a high likelihood of extension or moving in to a full time permanent position.


Key expectations in this role:


  • Follow up on user requests and monitoring the health of various Microsoft Systems
  • Provide recommendations for improvement to Senior management and implement such improvements once approved
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a small team and share knowledge with other IT Members
  • Skilled in creating design documents


To qualify for this role:


The candidate must have at least 5 years or more of relevant experience on each of the following:


  • Managing and configuring 2019 / 2022 Windows server environments
  • Deploying proprietary in-house applications on Windows Servers
  • Managing and configuring a Microsoft desktop environment (M365, Entra/Active Directory, Defender, SCCM, Compliance Center, Group polices, Azure AD) IIS (clustered or standalone)
  • Managing and configuring Microsoft server (HyperV) environment
  • Managing Microsoft M365, Active Directory and Group Policy and Azure AD
  • Writing PowerShell scripts for automation and administration
  • Managing storage solutions and backup systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues, escalating to vendors or higher-level support teams when necessary.
  • Document server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency.
  • Stay current with Microsoft technologies and industry best practices, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance the stability and efficiency of the server environment.
  • Implement and maintain some basic Azure infrastructure components such as storage accounts.

Additional experience in the following areas would be a great asset:

  • Windows Server clustering and network load balancing
  • Additional Microsoft technologies: Conditional Access, Other Defender products, Autopilot, Azure Infrastructure Administration, Power automate, Graph API,
  • ITIL (focused on Incident, Problem, Change, Availability, Capacity, and Resiliency Management processes)
  • Foundational networking principles (core switches, routers, SAN storage networks)
  • IT facilities and datacenter (UPS, A/C, datacenter racking and cabling etc.)
  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
  • Containing malware, tracing, troubleshooting
