One of our direct client is looking to hire Sr. Software Engineer in Toronto ON OR Halifax NS (Hybrid). Please find below job description.


What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Developer you will join a highly talented team that develops & maintains high-availability low-latency real-time systems that helps with communication surveillance.

You will work on building components that will send journalled emails from on-Prem to AWS Cloud for a third party vendor hosted as managed Cloud SaaS, whilst ensuring data is encrypted all the way through the secure tunnel.


What will you do?


Design and set up Scalable SMTP Relay Server responsible for sending encrypted emails to third party vendors Email gateway

Design components that is able to scale to send a few millions messages over encrypted channels

Contribute to the overall design and development of communication surveillance platform.

Collaborate closely with product owner, business analysts as well as business users including compliance/audit teams.

Develop a deep understanding of email message attributes and ways of processing thousands of messages per second, in a fault tolerant, resilient and scalable manner

Proactively seek out knowledge about new technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges

Set high development standards by developing highperformant, reusable, reliable and efficient systems.


What do you need to succeed?


Must-have

10+ years experience managing, implementing and administering SMTP Relay servers

Strong background in SMTP related networking to ensure data is encrypted at rest and transit

Atleast 3+ years experience in Azure/AWS networking.

Strong understanding of multithreading and concurrency in Java 8 or later.

Good knowledge of relational databases and any messaging technology ( e.g. Apache James/Apache Flume/Solace/IBM MQ/Kafka)

Excellent communication skills to articulate technical challenges

Knack for writing clean, readable java code with unit tests

Ability to multitask effectively and provide timely updates


Nice-to-have

Experience with ‘Agile’ style development methods

DevOps experience with continuous integration/delivery bestpractices, technologies and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Ansible, SonarQube, Checkmarx
