With nearly two centuries of history, our dedicated team is the cornerstone of our success in delivering exceptional solutions to the healthcare industry.Role DescriptionReporting to the Vice President of Operations or designate, the Director of Procurement provides strategic leadership and oversight of all procurement activities across Stevens’ operations, ensuring optimal balance between cost, quality, and service. This role drives procurement excellence through effective sourcing strategies, supplier relationship management, and contract governance to achieve company-wide objectives in profitability, inventory optimization, and customer satisfaction. Responsible for leading high-performing teams, the Director fosters collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation across procurement, logistics, and inventory functions to support Stevens’ commitment to operational excellence and long-term growthPrimary responsibilitiesDevelop and execute procurement strategies that align with business goals and optimize cost, quality, and service delivery.Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team to ensure effective performance, professional growth, and alignment with company objectives.Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive value, efficiency, and innovation.Establish, monitor, and continuously improve procurement KPIs such as cost savings, supplier performance, contract compliance, and spend management.Direct sourcing activities, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management to ensure reliable and cost-effective supply.Oversee supplier evaluation, onboarding, and compliance with quality standards, corporate responsibility, and ethical sourcing policies.Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to optimize inbound shipments, customs processes, and overall landed cost.Analyze procurement spend data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements.Report regularly to executive leadership on procurement performance, supplier risks, and strategic initiatives.Represent the organization in supplier meetings, industry events, and sourcing forums to foster partnerships and explore innovation opportunities.Partner with finance, operations, and sales teams on demand planning, budget alignment, and inventory optimization.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, internal controls, and industry regulations.Champion a culture of safety and accountability across all procurement activities.Knowledge and skill requirementsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (advanced degree or professional certification preferred).8–12 years of progressive procurement experience, including 5+ years in a senior management role.Proven success in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization programs.Strong leadership with demonstrated ability to build teams, manage stakeholders, and drive organizational change.Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Expertise in procurement metrics, total cost analysis, and supplier performance management.Excellent communication and influencing abilities at all organizational levels.Proficient in ERP systems, e-procurement platforms, spend analysis tools, and Microsoft Office (advanced Excel required).Strong financial acumen with experience in cost modeling, budget oversight, and ROI analysis.Personal Attributes· Influential, effective leader with a commitment to mentoring and growing talent.· Results-driven, proactive, and adaptable under pressure.· Customer-centric with strong relationship-building abilities.· Motivated to champion continuous improvement and operational excellence.
