The Wireless Technologist will analyze, test, and trial highly complex fixed wireless broadcast systems and associated hardware components. Responsible for selecting, testing, trialing, and evaluating various mechanical and electrical parts for the broadcasting fixed wireless site and customer premises equipment accessories (CPEs). You will provide advanced troubleshooting and maintenance support on Xplore sites to the Network teams. You shall be responsible for writing guidelines for installations and implementation documents. You will be the technical prime for non-standard builds or configuration and any site accessories / components. You will assist in developing new concepts with other members of the Engineering team, sales, network teams, configuration team, and vendors on a regular basis.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lab testing prime on new RAN features, RAN eNodeB software releases and new RAN broadcast equipment. All test results will be documented for future reference.
• Test and evaluate electrical and mechanical components associated with Xplore fixed wireless sites, and investigate best practices to implement and deploy these required components (examples: cabinets, UPS, rectifiers, cables, batteries, etc.).
• This position will mock up test scenarios defined by others to assist with root cause analysis.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting support on wireless sites, and advanced technical support to Network Operations, dealers and their installers while working closely with the Customer CARE
• Support Engineering and Field Operations Teams in finding creative solutions to support deployment for equipment in non-standard configuration. Responsibilities also include CPEs, CPE accessories, and installation for both fixed wireless and satellite solutions.
• Write, update, document and communicate the recommendations and/or best practices of the site engineering and CPE installations. Develops field trial project plans and schedules, contingency plans and maintains procedural and system documentations. Assigns the activities of cross functional team members as it relates to these projects. Develops reference materials and procedures that will become guidelines for others.
• Establish, update, communicate and support national best implementation and maintenance practices for RAN equipment with a focus on cost efficiencies.
• Maintenance and evolution of the Test environments (LAB, Test Locations, Friendlies)

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Minimum of five years of experience in wireless networks implementation and operations
• Hands on experience with measurement (example: spectrum analyzers) and data collection tools.
• Experience and / or good grasp of 4G technologies and market trends.
• Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
• Self starter and team player with strong leadership qualities.
• Detailed knowledge and experience of electrical and mechanical ancillary site components, towers, construction challenges, radio access equipment and technologies for fixed wireless and satellite.
• Good knowledge of various relative standards and codes (CSA, CEC, NEC, etc.)
• Good understanding of Internet technologies and IP protocols (FTP, SSH, SNMP, SMTP, etc.)
• Excellent knowledge of RF accessories / site component details / CPEs.
• Good project management skills
