About the School:

Fort McMurray Christian School is an alternative faith-based program within the Fort McMurray Public School Division. The school serves 240 students from Early Childhood Development (ECDP) to grade 9.

The goals of the school are:

To provide students with an education based on Scripture. The Christian perspective is integrated into all aspects of study.

To acknowledge the Lordship of Christ and to develop the students’ understanding of their own relationship to God as well as their relationship to others and creation.

To provide an education that allows children to reach their potential academically, spiritually, emotionally, socially and physically.

To direct students in the development of Christ-like character.

To prepare students to be of service in the community.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The Ideal Candidate would possess the following background, philosophy, and experience:

Demonstrated leadership at the school or division level.

Awareness of the Fort McMurray Christian School’s Vision Document and Mission Statement and could actively support both

Ability to work with teachers to integrate a Christian worldview in an Alternative program as outlined by the Mission and Vision of the Fort McMurray Alternative Program

Ability to integrate Christian faith and learning

Passion to promote faith-based programming which would lead to student enrollment growth

Experience working with Indigenous and other diverse cultural groups.

Evidence of a student centered philosophy.

An ability and commitment to work as a member of a team in a collaborative work environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive classrooms.

Demonstrated knowledge of effective assessment practices.

Involvement in community events/volunteerism.

Knowledge and experience in Special Education.

Strong technology skills including PowerSchool familiarity.

Commitment to community partnerships.

An ability to establish productive relationships with parents.

A commitment to assessment for learning.

A commitment to continuous professional growth.

Strong communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.

Successful teaching experience with a focus on results.

Related post-graduate studies preferred, completed or working on a Master’s degree.

Knowledge of the Teacher Quality Standard and the Leadership Quality Standard and demonstrated adherence to both standards.
