Jack River School is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school with 513 students. The school is located in Norway House, Manitoba which is a thriving community situated at the picturesque tip of Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River. The community is fully serviced with a hospital, shopping mall, two community recreation complexes, a post-secondary campus, daily air service and asphalt roads.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree and valid Manitoba Teacher’s Certificate (or eligibility for)

Master’s Degree in Education/Administration and/or Certificate in School Leadership would be an asset

Manitoba Special Education certificate or certification in process

At least five years of teaching experience and previous experience as a Resource Teacher

Previous administration experience would be an asset

Excellent understanding of current Manitoba Curricula and differentiated instruction

Extensive knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life

Experience with integrating Indigenous culture and land-based teaching into curriculum

Proficiency in a variety of computer applications in a network environment and experience with and understanding of school-based technology

Ability to work with teachers to promote and deliver inclusive schooling

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to effectively communicate with parents, the community and foster parental involvement

Keen ability to identify and creatively solve problems

Ability to work in partnership with community agencies

Previous success with the development and implementation of short and long term school-based plans

Experience leading innovative and creative program delivery for students
