Role overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) specializing in Property and Casualty insurance to become a pivotal part of our dynamic team. In this role, you will demonstrate your extensive expertise in the insurance sector to bridge the gap between technical teams and business objectives. As part of a fast-paced environment, your analytical skills will be critical in understanding client needs, translating them into actionable system requirements, and ensuring that project work align with organizational goals. You will work closely with key collaborators to gather and document requirements, manage project timelines, and ensure that the systems developed serve the needs of both the business and its customers effectively.

What you’ll do
  • Act as a liaison between business collaborators and IT teams to ensure alignment on project goals and work.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for systems related to Property and Casualty insurance.
  • Create detailed process maps and data flow diagrams to aid in understanding system interactions and requirements.
  • Support the development and execution of test plans to ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with collaborators to review project progress and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and suggest necessary system updates.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for solutions, including business requirements, functional specifications, and user manuals.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Business Systems Analysis, specifically within the Property and Casualty insurance domain.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience reporting and legacy migration.
  • Solid understanding of insurance industry standards, practices, and compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency in requirements gathering techniques including interviews, workshops, and document analysis.
  • Experience with business process modeling tools and methodologies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with collaborators at various levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Working arrangements

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance though our various wellbeing programs.
