Utility Billing Coordinator

The Billing Coordinator is responsible for supporting utility clients with

day-to-day meter-to-cash processes and contact center operations.


Responsibilities

  • Process and track payment files (PAP, lockbox, web payments, cheques, EFT) daily
  • Fulfill daily collections procedures
  • Perform batch & cycle validations
  • Ensure utility bills are issued on time and accurately on behalf of the clients
  • Perform daily off-cycle billing activities involving final bill preparation, validations, and any necessary adjustments
  • Manage collection, cashiering and final read request related service orders
  • Respond to incoming customer inquiries (public and client related)
  • Input data through manual and automated processes
  • Administer reporting through various platforms (Teleworks, consolidated usage, developer listings, customer counts, month end and year end reporting)
  • Review standard operating procedure documents as required
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and other tasks as assigned


Requirements

  • Experience with utility Customer Information System (CIS) applications is a must
  • Experience in a billing or customer service role within a utility is a must
  • Harris NorthStar CIS experience is a must
  • 1-3 years of experience in a billing, accounting or other financial skill set is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function both in a self-directed manner and in a team environment
  • Effective time and task management skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • A strong commitment to customer and corporate objectives
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency with all MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.)
