Job Description:

As a Ruby on Rails Developer at Think Dirty, you’ll have a chance to work on a meaningful startup, empowering consumers to choose the safest products for their health and the environment. Our full-stack developers will expose you to all aspects of the business and work with cutting-edge technologies. You’ll have a big impact on our mission to create a clean beauty platform.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated developer to enhance and scale the backend of our Think Dirty app. You’ll collaborate with our cross-functional team to ensure a smooth, secure, and scalable user experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code.
  • Develop APIs that support our mobile app, web services, and future products.
  • Implement and maintain GraphQL and OpenAPI for APIs.
  • Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of backend systems.
  • Work on both full-stack web development and mobile development projects.
  • Identify and fix bottlenecks and bugs while enhancing application performance.
  • Implement security and data protection best practices.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and stakeholders to implement new features and improvements.
  • Optimize the backend for increased traffic and future growth.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend API development using Ruby on Rails.
  • Expert in Ruby on Rails and tools like GraphQL and OpenAPI.
  • Proficiency in Ruby 2 and Rails 3.
  • Solid grasp of object-oriented programming and server-side templating languages.
  • Experience in full-stack web development, mobile development, and API development.
  • Deep understanding of mobile development requirements for native iOS and Android.
  • Proficiency in frontend frameworks such as Ember.js, Angular.js, or Backbone.js.
  • Familiarity with MVC, Mocking, ORM, RESTful concepts.
  • Know-how of deployment tools like Capistrano or Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Heroku.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases.
  • Proficient with Git and strong unit test/debugging skills.
  • Enthusiastic about product quality with an independent, fast learner, and self-starter attitude.
  • Familiar with continuous integration (CI/CD) processes.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset: you think and then execute efficiently.


Bonus Skills:

  • Open-source project contributions are highly valued.


Who You Are:

  • Believes that code clarity is paramount to modern engineering teams
  • An experienced product-minded backend engineer with a proven track record of using mobile development best practices
  • Experience in building backends for mobile apps in iOS and Android
  • Experience working on teams in an Agile-Scrum environment
  • Ability to communicate, help lead technical decision-making, mentor less experienced developers and estimate delivery effectively
  • Is excited about collaborating with others, engineering and non-engineering, both learning & teaching, as Think Dirty grows
