Straiton Engineering was founded by two professional engineers seeking a renewed focus on the quality of design and client service. While we operate primarily in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, our projects span Western Canada. Our valued clients include developers, business owners, universities, property managers, government agencies, and industrial companies.

Position Overview

The primary role of this position is to work closely with engineers and senior technical staff to develop designs and drawings for the following building systems:

  • HVAC
  • Piping & Plumbing
  • Fire Suppression



Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the project team to help resolve issues during construction
  • Working closely with the Project Manager and other technical staff to provide clients with completed projects in a timely manner
  • Maintaining open lines of communication and coordinating work with the Project Manager, staff, and project team members outside of SEL
  • Good working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards
  • Operate with moderate oversight on typical design problems; seek advice and assistance from senior staff for deeper technical problems

  • Ability to identify and understand client expectations, then meet or exceed them
  • Knowledge of MS Office 365 suite
  • Highly skilled in the use of AutoCAD (2D), MS Excel, and other routine design tools
  • Ability to identify risks to clients or SEL and identify technical innovative approaches to complex problems
  • Ability to accurately apply common codes and standards to routine design problems


Requirements

  • Graduation from a technical university or college diploma program, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering and
  • 2 - 8 years applicable industry experience in Building Engineering
