Contract Plant Operator

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently looking for a Plant Operator to join our team on a contract basis.
The Plant Operator is responsible to ensure that all oil/ gas or power products meet specifications, may monitor the control panel, ensures maximum product recovery and maintenance of throughputs within license restrictions. initiates changes to work routines where performance can be improved without sacrificing safety or product quality, may plan and coordinate the work of contract and maintenance crews and works with minimal supervision. This position has full working knowledge of safety procedures, plant equipment and plant operations. Operating instructions are normally well established; however, judgement is utilized in the selection of work methods. This plant position is for a rotating day/night shift schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure good housekeeping practices & clean work areas are maintained
- Maintain safe, reliable and efficient day to day operations
- Operate Inlet Separators, Amine, Refrigeration, Compression, Acid Gas Compression, Power Generation Equipment
- Maintain and clean any plant equipment to a high standard
- Conduct plant site specific orientations on an as need basis
- Must keep all safety tickets and certifications current and up to date
- Will be required to assist in writing site specific operating procedures and start up procedures
- Must understand the general principles of operating the plant
- Must understand the permit system and isolation of hazardous energy
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five (5)years gas plant experience.
- Sour service experience is an asset
- Fired Processed Heater Operator certification is needed but a Fourth Class Power Engineering Certification is an asset
- Strong knowledge of process systems
- Physical work is required such as lifting, ladder climbing, working at heights
- Able to work in seasonal weather conditions
- The ability to work independently and within a team atmosphere
- Basic computer skills are required
